The first time when I heard about Charles Bukowski, it was three years ago. There was an article on Facebook, I came on with some of his famous quotes. Charles Bukowski — an American poet, novelist, and publicist is known for his uncompromising language, his love of the lowlands as a literary subject, and his indiscriminate personal and professional life.

I was so excited about his work, that instead of reading self-help books, I started to read his books as a therapy session to myself. He made me many times to laugh out loud. I have read different self- help books and nothing against them. But Charles Bukowski made my day many times when I had my ups and downs in life. I find Charles Bukowski ‘s style so natural and authentic, sometimes I have to admit the dirty language is too much, but still, I found a lot of wisdom in his writing.

On this date, today back in the 1920 year Charles Bukowski was born in Andernach, Germany. That’s why I would like to honour in memory of him with a list of some of his most remarkable quotes after my opinion:

1. “Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead.”

2. “For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can’t readily accept the God formula, the big answers don’t remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.”

3.“What matters most is how well you walk through the fire”

4.“You have to die a few times before you can really
live.”―
The people look like flowers at last

5.“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.”

6.“An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way.”

7.“If you’re losing your soul and you know it, then you’ve still got a soul left to lose”

8.“Real loneliness is not necessarily limited to when you are alone.”

9.“Some lose all mind and become soul, insane. Some lose all soul and become mind, intellectual. Some lose both and become accepted”

10. “The free soul is rare, but you know it when you see it — basically because you feel good, very good when you are near or with them.”
